Curriculum: In the 2’s class, we promote a child's social, emotional and cognitive communication, and motor development while teaching children habits such as following directions and sticking with a task. We help children learn to separate for short periods of time from their parents, participate in weekly music class with performances in both the Christmas and spring music programs, create artistic master pieces during arts and craft sessions, and engage in dramatic role play. We create theme-based activities across multiple areas of development that are focused on the learning goals set forth to inspire and strengthen the development of each student individually. Children do not need to be potty trained.

3’s Class

Curriculum: The 3’s program provides a safe, caring and Christian atmosphere for all children. Children learn how to socialize, play with others, make friends, and communicate to express their needs - all through play and basic instructions. Learning is organized around weekly themes. Spotlighting different letters, numbers, shapes and colors every week. We practice name recognition and the letters in our name, actively participate in circle time while learning the days of the week, times of the day, months and seasons. We work on fine motor skills, cutting with scissors and handwriting activities. We have dramatic role play along with indoor and outdoor play time, weekly music and chapel classes. We observe the importance of classroom rules, taking turns, personal space and following two and three step directions. Children assume more personal and classroom responsibility by performing assigned classroom jobs. We strive to keep each day consistent; in turn, this makes each day flow easily in a structured educational environment. Our 3’s class teaches children the basics for their age group and prepares them for Pre-K.

Pre-K Class

Curriculum: The Pre-K class helps prepare children for kindergarten by teaching them to recognize Loudoun County Public School’s kindergarten sight words, discern both lower and upper case letters, identify numbers from 0 to 20, and much more. Children learn to investigate the world around us during science experiments and cooking classes. We encourage students to become responsible for their own belongings letting them assume greater personal and classroom responsibility through classroom jobs, taking home folders, and checking out classroom library books. Children learn to understand the difference between letters and numbers and when each are used, become skilled at handwriting, place numbers and letters in the correct order, add and subtract numbers together using classroom manipulatives, and sort objects by size, color and purpose. We use developmentally appropriate activities to enhance self-esteem, self-confidence, independence and individuality in each of our students. We encourage students’ listening and speaking skills by providing many opportunities for self-expression. By promoting teamwork, we encourage students to learn and play together while developing respect for their classmates. Weekly music and chapel classes, Christmas and spring concerts, Donuts with Dad, Mother’s Day Tea, and graduation are just a few of the special events we enjoy throughout the year.

Lunch Bunch

Curriculum: Lunch Bunch invites children to eat a bagged lunch from home with friends and two LPCP teachers. After lunch, children read books with teachers, play indoors and outdoors when possible. Children learn important self-help skills by unpacking their lunch box and cleaning up after themselves. The children enjoy the time to be together and interact with different sets of teachers and students.

Junior Kindergarten

Curriculum: This program is a rich K-preparation program designed for this age and stage development of older and ready 4-year old, and 5-year-old learners. In a preschool environment, these older children are exposed to a very stimulating set of JK level experiences. Children learn to seek out and explore possibilities in all traditional areas of learning. You will be amazed at the growth and progress that children demonstrate in the right environment. Students will be responsible for their own belongings and will respect those of others, the environment, their peers, and teachers. They will become responsible for their classroom, their take-home folders, filing their work appropriately in class, remembering to bring in items, and passing messages between preschool and home, amongst many other things. They will become skilled in letter-sound recognition and use. They will become early readers and writers set on the path to being lifelong enthusiastic learners. They will explore math concepts and manipulate math tools as they develop the skills needed to be confident with math facts and smart math thinking. They will develop penmanship skills using the Handwriting Without Tears Transitional Kindergarten curriculum and materials specifically developed for this age group. All of the JK experiences are developmentally appropriate activities designed to develop independent and confident students. Children have opportunities to become skilled listeners, thinkers, problem solvers, orators, writers, team player, leaders, readers, and consistent participants in an educational group setting. JK-ers experience bi-monthly Bare Foot Sensory and Chapel, weekly music, science and social studies, daily math madness, reading, writing readiness, stories, songs, fingerplays, playground adventures, and more. We celebrate Thanksgiving together and sing in Christmas and Spring concerts, invite a special guy to Donuts with Dads, a special lady to Mother’s Day Tea, and we have an end of year Moving -On- Up celebration to look forward to.
